Tiling is one way to predict the amount of crop production remaining on the land through sampling, measuring and weighing. Currently, the crops whose productivity can be measured through new tiles are limited to rice, corn, soybeans, cassava, peanuts and sweet potatoes.
Ubinan is one of the routine surveys carried out every subround. Tiling has its own challenges that are not found in other surveys. A tiling tool with a fairly heavy weight, consisting of scales, pegs and stainless steel rods of various sizes and the location of the tiles which are sometimes difficult to reach because not every plant is cultivated on land that is easily accessible by vehicle, sometimes passing through rivers, bushes and The slippery roads, especially the current conditions which have entered the rainy season, where the road to the location is sometimes difficult to pass, are enough to illustrate the challenges of this survey. However, because it has become their duty and responsibility, without letting up their enthusiasm, officers continue to complete this tile in order to produce quality data.
In March 2024, the BPS Sukamara Regency tiling team carried out 8 plots of rice tiling, consisting of 4 plots in Balai Riam District, 2 plots in Jelai District, and 2 plots in Pantai Lunci District. Apart from that, tiling of secondary crops was also carried out consisting of 5 plots of sweet potato tiling in Sukamara District, 2 plots of peanuts in Balai Riam District and 1 plot in Sukamara District, and 5 plots of corn tiling were also carried out, namely 3 plots in Sukamara District. plots and in Balai Riam District there are 2 plots. The high rainfall that occurred during March 2024 caused a decrease in the production of rice and secondary crops.
Another obstacle faced during tiling activities is that the Census Blocks (BS) selected as tiling samples sometimes miss estimates due to weather changes. Sometimes at the time of listing, farmers are still cultivating these crops, but due to high rainfall or drought factors, the farmers are ultimately unable to harvest their crops according to the estimated harvest month.
