Abstract

Farmers Terms of Trade (FTT) is a comparison of the price index received by farmers to the price index paid by farmers.

FTT is one indicator to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. FTT also shows the exchange power (terms of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs.

Kalimantan Tengah's combined FTT in February 2023 increased by 0.33 percent compared to January 2023, namely from 118.93 to 119.32. This increase was due to an increase in the exchange rate in several sub-sectors, namely food crops (0.34 percent), horticulture (0.67 percent), smallholder plantation crops (0.58 percent), and fisheries (0.20 percent). While livestock was the only sub-sector that experienced a 1.52 percent decline in the exchange rate.

In February 2023 there was an increase in the Household Consumption Index (HCI) in Kalimantan Tengah by 0.38 percent which was mainly due to an increase in the price index for the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group (0.71 percent). Meanwhile, the transportation group was the only one that experienced a decline in the price index (0.27 percent).

Similar to the FTT, the Kalimantan Agricultural Tengah Household Business Exchange Rate (HBER) in February 2023 also increased by 0.62 percent, from 119.07 (January 2023) to 119.81 (February 2023).
